Passion in Business
Passion for technology is something quite hard to find these days, it seems everybody is in it for the money. I have spoke to and worked with people working in IT that spent the majority of there time complaining how they don’t like there job. Which begs the question why are they in IT in the first place.
I’m passionate about technology and it shows in the work that I do. I find that I thrive when working with other people with the same passion and drive for what they do. Theres nothing better than being with people with the same passion talking about how you can hack the latest software and hardware and make it do something better. Which presents the problem, where are they?
I have been looking for a new job for a while to advance my career and keep moving forward and I have had a number of interviews as I believe I have a very broad skillset and that I’m good at what I do, however thats not for me to judge. A resounding feedback I get from employers is that I’m too ambitious or too advanced or I have too much passion for what I do and that it shows. I mean thats all good and well but isnt that what employers want? Someone who will go in and learn everything about there systems and enjoy doing so who will be advancing all the time and that has ambition and drive. I dont get it really. Where in the corporate world do you have to look to find a company that values what IT is supposed to be about in the first place.
So whats your thoughts, anyone got any idea where all the good companies have gone?
